IRC Fiber is a hosted IRC client and bouncer. This policy explains what we store to run it, why, and how to remove it. Questions: [email protected].

What we collect

• Account details: your username, email address and a hash of your password (never the password itself).
• Sign-in identifiers: if you use Sign in with Apple, GitHub or Google, the identifier that provider gives us for your account and the email address it shares (which may be an Apple private relay address).
• IP addresses: the address you signed up and log in from, with a coarse IP geolocation (country/region and network operator). We use these only for abuse prevention and account security.
• Activity: when you sign in or connect (with the device and IP address used) and how many messages you send each day — counts only, never their content. We use this to understand how the service is used and to spot abuse.
• Chat messages and channel history: messages in the channels and conversations you join are stored so your session stays in sync across the web and the app, and so you can scroll back after reconnecting.
• Uploads: images and files you choose to upload and share.
• Settings: your IRC networks, preferences and ignore/block list.

What we don't do

No advertising, no third-party analytics or tracking, and we never sell or rent your data.

Service providers

We share the minimum needed with providers that help run the service: Cloudflare (network delivery and DDoS protection), our email delivery provider (verification and password-reset mail), and an IP intelligence lookup service (coarse location and abuse signals for login and signup addresses).

Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. IRC messages you send to public channels are also seen by the other people in those channels and on the wider IRC network, which we do not control. Activity records are deleted after 90 days.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time: in the iPhone app under Account → Delete Account, or on ircfiber.com under Settings. Deletion permanently erases your account, networks, buffers and history, preferences, sessions, uploads and your NickServ registration, and revokes Sign in with Apple. It cannot be undone.
